LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY
Our open-house is ideally located for exploring the surrounding area and making the most of your stay in Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc.
In just a 15-minute walk, or 5 minutes by free shuttle bus (50 meters from the hotel), you can reach the foot of the ski slopes of the Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area and its 445 km of playground!
You'll also be delighted to discover that numerousrestaurants and shops are just a stone's throw from the hotel, offering a variety of choices for your meals and daily needs. Less than 100 meters away, you'll find ski rental stores, a pharmacy, a supermarket, restaurants, a tobacconist's, the tourist office or the guide office.
History
Located in the village, the Val d'Este is one of the region's oldest inns, known as the Café du Commerce. In the 19th century, it was bought by the Révilliod family, originally from Les Contamines. This family was known both as musicians and republicans.
At the end of the 19th century and during the first half of the 20th century, the café du commerce became the headquarters and meeting place of the local brass band led by the Révilliod family. This band played a political role, supporting the Republican party against the monarchical party, which was supported by the Church. Architect Jaillet, who was a "pièce rapportée" in this family, was a great president emblematic of this era.
The building was renovated around 1970-80, with facades repainted by Jeanroy. It was at this time that it took on the name Val d'Este.
